Amazon Warriors W Beat Knight Riders to Stay Alive in WCPL

Guyana Amazon Warriors kept their playoff chances alive in the 2026 Limacol WCPL with a 25-run victory over Trinbago Knight Riders, a result that leaves every side in the competition still in contention for the title.

Amazon Warriors posted 119/8, a total built around a rapid start from 17-year-old opener Eboni Brathwaite and a steady contribution from Shermaine Campbelle. Brathwaite struck Marizanne Kapp for six early in the innings before the South African bowled her for 13 off six deliveries. Campbelle followed up her half-century from the team’s opening match with 31 off 28 balls, giving the innings a platform even as Kapp and Shikha Pandey applied consistent pressure through the middle overs.

The chase for parity was disrupted in the death overs, when Laura Harris removed Campbelle and Pandey struck twice in three balls to dismiss Nadine de Klerk and Chloe Tryon. The cluster of wickets left Amazon Warriors needing a strong bowling effort to defend their total.

That is what they got. Shabnim Ismail and Shamillia Connell dismantled the Knight Riders top order inside the powerplay, reducing the chase to 22/5 after six overs. Connell came close to a second wicket of her own but put down a return catch. Harris, Kapp, Deandra Dottin, Jannillea Glasgow and Yastika Bhatia were all back in the pavilion inside the opening overs, leaving Madeline Penna to try to rebuild the innings. Penna hit Ashmini Munisar for six but was caught in the deep off the next delivery attempting to repeat the shot.

With Penna gone, the Knight Riders lower order was unable to sustain the chase, and further wickets fell as the tail attempted to accelerate the scoring rate. Amazon Warriors closed out the 25-run win to move back into playoff contention.

Guyana Amazon Warriors will play their final group-stage fixture against Barbados Tridents on Sunday, with their qualification hopes still in their own hands.
