Colin Munro’s Majestic Hundred Powers Trinbago Knight Riders Past Patriots at Warner Park
Colin Munro produced one of the most destructive innings in Caribbean Premier League history as Trinbago Knight Riders defeated St Kitts & Nevis Patriots by 12 runs in the fourth game of the Republic Bank CPL 2025. The New Zealand left-hander blazed 120 from just 57 deliveries, striking 14 fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 210 to power his side to a match-winning total at Basseterre.
Asked to bat first after Patriots captain Jason Holder chose to field, Trinbago Player made the most of a flat Warner Park pitch. Munro and Alex Hales combined for a blistering 114-run opening stand inside nine overs, leaving the Patriots’ bowlers with no answers. Munro continued to attack relentlessly down the ground against both pace and spin, surpassing Nicholas Pooran’s 102* in 2023 to record the highest individual score in Knight Riders history. He eventually fell to Holder in the 18th over, but by then the team had already surged past 210, finishing on 231 for 5.
The Patriots made a spirited response but a sluggish start cost them dearly. They managed just 23 runs from the first three overs, a slow beginning that left them chasing the game. Jason Holder’s 44 kept them in contention and there were cameos through the order, but despite reaching 219 for 7, the target always looked slightly beyond reach. They ultimately finished 12 runs short, registering a second defeat in three matches after winning their opening fixture.
Munro’s hundred, his second in CPL, also made him only the second overseas player after Faf du Plessis to achieve multiple centuries in the tournament. The victory pushed the Knight Riders alongside Guyana Amazon Warriors at the top of the CPL 2025 points table with one win from one, while the Patriots now face an early struggle to regain momentum after consecutive losses.
Speaking after being named Player of the Match, Munro described his innings as “one of the most special” in his T20 career and credited the fast start with Alex Hales for setting the tone. Holder admitted his side’s bowlers failed to adapt to conditions and rued the missed opportunities in the powerplay. For Trinbago, the performance was an emphatic statement of intent in a season already shaping up to be fiercely contested.
