CPL 2025: BYD Announced as Official Sponsor of Caribbean Premier League
The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has announced global clean energy and automotive giant BYD as an official sponsor of the 2025 tournament. The partnership marks the first time the world’s leading new energy vehicle brand by sales will join forces with the Caribbean’s premier cricket event, aligning sustainable mobility with the region’s biggest sporting celebration.
Founded in 1994, BYD has grown into a global high-tech powerhouse spanning electronics, automotive, renewable energy, and rail transit. Its automotive division leads the world in new energy vehicle sales, with a growing presence in the Caribbean including Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad. A new showroom in Saint Lucia is set to open before the end of the year.
This partnership is a significant milestone for BYD,” said Stephen Hector, Group Deputy Managing Director, BYD Caribbean. “The CPL is a vital part of Caribbean culture and this sponsorship gives us the opportunity to share our vision for a sustainable future with cricket fans across the region, including Guyana where BYD will be introduced to a wide audience for the first time.
CPL Commercial Director Jamie Stewart welcomed the deal, noting its alignment with CPL’s values of innovation, community, and sustainability. “It’s fantastic to have the support of a brand that shares our commitment to making a positive impact both on and off the field,” he said.
The 2025 CPL, which runs from 14 August to 21 September, will feature the world’s top T20 talent. Fans can expect to see BYD branding across stadiums, fan zones, and community initiatives throughout the tournament, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to Caribbean culture and clean energy progress.
