Falcons Beat Knight Riders by 8 Runs – Obed McCoy’s 4 Wickets, Allen Shines in CPL 2025

Antigua, August 21, 2025 – Obed McCoy’s brilliance with the ball and Fabian Allen’s explosive cameo powered Antigua & Barbuda Falcons to a thrilling 8-run victory over Trinbago Knight Riders in the seventh match of the Caribbean Premier League at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

The contest went down to the final over with Kieron Pollard threatening to take the game away. Needing 14 from six deliveries, the Knight Riders captain looked set to finish it off, but Shamar Springer delivered a nerveless last over, mixing short balls with fuller ones to deny Pollard. Four runs off the final ball proved insufficient as the Falcons celebrated a dramatic win that pushed them to the top of the table.

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, the Falcons slipped to 77 for 5 before Fabian Allen counter-attacked with a fiery 45 off 20 balls, including three sixes, to lift his side to 167 for 6. The innings proved decisive, giving the bowlers enough to defend under pressure.

Obed McCoy was the standout performer with the ball, finishing with 4 for 39 and removing both Colin Munro and Alex Hales in a single over to halt TKR’s charge. Munro’s quickfire 44 and Pollard’s late surge of seven boundaries kept the chase alive, but the lack of sustained support from Nicholas Pooran, Darren Bravo, and Keacy Carty left the Knight Riders short in the end.

The result leaves Nicholas Pooran’s Knight Riders second from bottom in the standings, while the Falcons continue their rise as one of the form teams of CPL 2025.
