Guyana Amazon Warriors Beat Saint Lucia Kings to Reach CPL 2025 Final

The Guyana Amazon Warriors booked their place in the 2025 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) final after a disciplined bowling effort secured a 14-run win over the Saint Lucia Kings in Qualifier 1 at Providence Stadium, Guyana. With this result, the Warriors advanced to their eighth CPL final and will now await the winner of Friday’s Qualifier 2 between the Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders.

Put in to bat first, the Warriors reached 157 before being bowled out in the final over. Shai Hope anchored the innings with a patient 32 from 29 balls, while late cameos from Dwaine Pretorius and Romario Shepherd added crucial runs. For the Kings, Tabraiz Shamsi was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets, while Tymal Mills impressed on his CPL debut with 2 for 28.

In reply, the Kings endured a disastrous start as the Warriors’ bowlers tore through the top order. Reduced to 12 for 3 and then 48 for 7, the chase was effectively over inside the first 10 overs. Gudakesh Motie spun the game firmly in Guyana’s favor with 4 for 30, while captain Imran Tahir kept the pressure on with 2 for 22, extending his wicket tally to 19 for the season.

Despite the collapse, Khary Pierre fought back with his maiden T20 fifty, supported by Alzarri Joseph’s 14 and a career-best 30 from Mills. Their efforts gave the Kings some respectability, but the early damage proved decisive as they were eventually dismissed for 143.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors have now won three consecutive matches and head into Sunday’s final with momentum on their side. The Kings, who topped the league stage, still have one more chance to make the final when they face Trinbago Knight Riders in Qualifier 2.
