Pollard Power Show TKR Down Kings in CPL 2025 Thriller

Kieron Pollard delivered a masterclass in power-hitting as the Trinbago Knight Riders defeated the Saint Lucia Kings by 18 runs in Match 10 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.

Both teams came into the contest with just one win each in the early stages of the season, but it was the Knight Riders who seized the opportunity to climb into the top half of the points table. After Kings skipper David Wiese won the toss and opted to field, openers Colin Munro and Alex Hales gave TKR a flying start with a 47-run partnership. Hales was dismissed for 20 when he miscued to Tabraiz Shamsi, while Munro impressed once again, striking six boundaries in a fluent 43 off 30 balls before falling to Shamsi, who celebrated with his signature “shoe phone” routine.

Nicholas Pooran played a measured hand with 34 from 30 balls, but the innings belonged to Pollard. The former West Indies captain reminded fans of his destructive best, blasting six towering sixes and four fours in a blistering knock that propelled the Knight Riders to 183 for 7 from their 20 overs.

The Kings responded with determination and kept themselves in contention deep into the chase. With 29 runs required from the final over, young Ackeem Auguste briefly raised hopes with a massive six off Andre Russell’s first delivery. However, Russell quickly regained control, conceding just four more runs and dismissing Delano Potgieter to end the contest.

The victory pushed the Trinbago Knight Riders up to third place in the CPL standings, while the Saint Lucia Kings suffered their first defeat of the season. With one abandoned game and a single win, they now sit just above the struggling Barbados Royals at the bottom of the table.

Pollard’s explosive return to form, supported by Munro and Pooran, underlined TKR’s batting firepower as the tournament heads toward its decisive middle phase.
