The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will host a family-friendly Health and Wellness Day on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the UWI Usain Bolt Track & Field in Barbados. The event, which is free and open to the public, aims to inspire healthier lifestyles and promote fitness across the Caribbean community.
Attendees can expect a wide variety of health-centered activities including live fitness sessions, free medical checkups, nutrition demonstrations, and interactive entertainment. CPL’s fitness ambassador, Spinny, will be leading group workouts and engaging with fans throughout the day. Popular Barbados Royals players and CPL mascots will also make special appearances, adding excitement to the event.
The day is part of CPL’s larger initiative to highlight the importance of wellness throughout the region. According to CPL officials, this event is focused on showcasing the small steps that can lead to a healthier and more balanced life. Attendees will have access to multiple health zones, including a Wellness & Nutrition Zone, a Medical Wellness Zone, and a Kids’ Cricket Clinic, encouraging children to get active through the sport of cricket.
Dr. Kenneth George, the Chief Medical Officer of Barbados, praised CPL’s public health initiative, emphasizing the role of community involvement in promoting healthier habits. “Community engagement fosters stronger relationships with the public, leading to increased trust and compliance with healthy behaviours,” he said. “It allows us to better understand challenges and barriers to healthier lifestyles, and respond more effectively.”
Dr. George also confirmed that the Ministry of Health and Wellness is enthusiastic about supporting the initiative, stating that they look forward to continued collaboration with CPL to encourage health-first community events.
Adding to the excitement, West Indies Women’s Captain Hayley Matthews, who also serves on the CPL Health & Wellness Board, expressed her support for the day. “It’s amazing to work with CPL on initiatives like this. We’re celebrating the incredible sports culture, food, and healthcare available here in Barbados,” she said. Matthews will also be present on the day to meet fans and engage with local health and sports organizations.
The event is scheduled from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and no prior registration is required. It’s designed to be a safe, welcoming space for families, sports lovers, and anyone interested in improving their lifestyle.
Activities will include:
- Group workouts with Spinny

This Health and Wellness Day represents CPL’s commitment to being a positive force in Caribbean life, not just through cricket, but by promoting better health and community connection.
