Falcons Win First CPL Title, Beat Kingsmen by 8 Wickets

The Antigua & Barbuda Falcons won their first Caribbean Premier League title on September 21, 2026, beating the Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets in the final at Kensington Oval. They reached 173 for 2 with 20 balls to spare, chasing 171.
Amir Jangoo and Hasan Nawaz shared an unbeaten 89-run partnership to complete the chase. Nawaz finished the match with a six. The Falcons’ bowlers had already done much of the work, led by left-arm spinner Sufyan Moqim, who took 4 for 14.
The Kingsmen, put in to bat, began aggressively. Maaz Sadaqat hit Jayden Seales for six off the first ball of the innings, but Seales removed Kirk McKenzie later in the same over, with Rahkeem Cornwall taking the catch in the slips. Keacy Carty was then caught at cover by Shadab Khan. Saim Ayub survived an lbw decision when a review showed a faint glove edge. The Kingsmen were 59 for 2 after the Power Play.
Sadaqat reached his fifty from 27 balls before Moqim changed the match. In his first over, Moqim dismissed Ayub and Rovman Powell. Shadab bowled Romaine Morris, and Moqim then took the wicket of Hassan Khan. The Kingsmen lost four wickets for three runs in 12 deliveries. The Falcons’ spinners had also been effective against the Guyana Amazon Warriors earlier in the play-offs.
Sadaqat kept the innings going, scoring what the match report describes as the first century in a CPL final, off 49 balls. It was his second hundred of the season. He added 14 more runs before falling on the penultimate delivery, and the Kingsmen finished on 170 for 9.
The Falcons started the chase quickly. Cornwall hit 20 runs off the first over, though he was bowled by the last ball of it. Evin Lewis, who had a reprieve when Andre Russell overstepped, and Jangoo then built on that start. Seventeen runs came from the final over of the Power Play, leaving the Falcons on 76 for 1.
Vitel Lawes bowled Lewis, but Jangoo and Nawaz kept the Falcons well ahead of a required rate that was only slightly above a run a ball. Jangoo reached his half-century with the partnership already past 50, and the Falcons went into the last five overs in control.
The result gives the Antigua & Barbuda franchise its first CPL championship.
