Jamaica Kingsmen Beat Guyana to Reach 2026 CPL Final

Jamaica Kingsmen booked their place in the 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League final after beating Guyana Amazon Warriors in the second qualifier at Kensington Oval, ending the Warriors’ bid for a fourth straight CPL final appearance. The Kingsmen, playing their first CPL season since returning to the tournament, will face Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in Sunday’s final.
Guyana posted 207 batting first, built around Shimron Hetmyer’s second century of the season, with Shai Hope and Quentin Sampson also contributing useful support through the innings. Hetmyer reached three figures off the final ball of the innings, hitting Andre Russell over third man for four having faced just 45 deliveries in an innings that included more sixes than fours.
The Warriors had stumbled early, slipping to 37 for 2 at the end of the powerplay — a similar position to the one they were in a day earlier before collapsing to 76 all out against the Falcons. This time, however, Hetmyer’s power-hitting dragged them to a total that looked defensible at the halfway mark.
Jamaica’s chase was set up by another rapid powerplay from Maaz Sadaqat, who made 41 off just 17 balls before Khary Pierre completed a steepling catch to dismiss him with the score on 42 for 1. Keacy Carty and Kirk McKenzie then took time to rebuild and bring the required rate under control, with Carty going on to make a classy half-century.
Jamaica looked to be cruising toward victory but lost Carty, Saim Ayub and Russell in quick succession late on, giving the chase a nervy finish. Rovman Powell, unbeaten at the close, steadied the innings, and Hassan Khan struck the four that sealed the win. It is the second time Powell has led a Jamaican franchise to a CPL final, having previously done so in 2022.
Sunday’s final will be a repeat of the opening match of this year’s CPL, with the Kingsmen and Falcons meeting again to decide the 2026 champions.
