Unbeaten Guyana Amazon Warriors Book CPL 2026 Play-Off Place With Win Over Patriots

Guyana Amazon Warriors have confirmed their place in the 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League play-offs after a seven-wicket win over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Providence on Sunday, a result that also kept them unbeaten and took them to the top of the points table.
Chasing a modest target, opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz set the tone with a rapid 39 off 25 balls, including a six off the first scoring delivery he faced, before Shai Hope finished the job unbeaten on 38 from 44 balls. The Warriors reached their target with nine balls in hand.
Earlier, Imran Tahir’s side were the dominant force with the ball after Patriots captain Jason Holder chose to bat first in hot conditions at Providence. Mohammad Nabi was the pick of the bowlers with 4/17, while Romario Shepherd took 3/16 as the Patriots were bowled out for 128 in the final over of their innings.
The Patriots lost wickets regularly and could not build a substantial partnership. Alick Athanaze was the last man dismissed and provided the innings’ main resistance, receiving brief support from Dasun Shanaka and Kyle Mayers.
In the chase, Wanindu Hasaranga continued his strong tournament form, finishing with 1/23 and removing Gurbaz to give the Patriots a sliver of hope. Leg-spinner Navin Bidiasee then struck twice in quick succession, dismissing rookie opener Mavindra Dindyal and hometown batter Shimron Hetmyer as the Warriors slipped to losing two wickets for four runs. However, Hope and Nabi steadied the innings with an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 54 to complete the victory.
The win extends Guyana Amazon Warriors‘ unbeaten run to six wins from six matches, placing them top of the standings. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots remain in fifth place on seven points, with one group-stage match left to play.
