Antigua and Barbuda Falcons held their nerve to beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by three wickets in the 12th match of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound on Thursday, August 20, chasing down a target of 188 with three balls to spare.
Batting first after Falcons won the toss, the Patriots posted 187 for 6 in their 20 overs, with Dasun Shanaka playing the standout innings of the match. Shanaka struck an unbeaten 49 off just 17 balls, including four fours and four sixes, taking 43 runs off the last three overs alone to lift his side to a competitive total. Wanindu Hasaranga remained not out on 7 alongside him at the innings break.
In reply, the Falcons lost opener Amir Jangoo for a duck in the first over, edging behind to give the Patriots an early breakthrough. Karima Gore added 22 before holing out during the powerplay, leaving the home side 47 for 2 at the end of the first six overs. Evin Lewis then anchored the innings, surviving two dropped catches — first off Kyle Mayers on 30 and then off Nikhil Chaudhary on 34 — before falling for 48. Hasan Nawaz was dismissed for 32 off the very next delivery, briefly putting the Patriots back in control.
Shadab Khan turned the contest on its head with a rapid 30 off just 12 balls, striking two sixes off Jason Holder before he was run out following a sharp piece of fielding from Hasaranga. With the equation tight in the closing overs, Moeen Ali stayed unbeaten on 25, and Shamar Springer contributed a quickfire 15 off six balls to guide the Falcons over the line at 191 for 7. The 378-run aggregate between the two sides is the highest recorded in a T20 meeting between Falcons and Patriots.
Shadab Khan was named Player of the Match for his all-round effort with bat and ball. Patriots captain Jason Holder said afterward that it had been a good contest and felt his players had competed hard throughout the innings.
The result lifts the Falcons into the top half of the CPL 2026 points table, while the Patriots suffer their third defeat in four matches and remain in the bottom half of the standings. Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are next in action on August 22 against Trinbago Knight Riders, also at North Sound, while the Patriots will look to bounce back later in the group stage.
