St Lucia Kings edged out Antigua and Barbuda Falcons by four runs in a last-over finish at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown on Sunday, August 9, as the third match of CPL 2026 went down to the final delivery of the chase.
Chasing 188 for victory, the Falcons needed 13 runs off the final over, and pace bowler Matthew Forde conceded just eight to seal the win for the Kings. Fabian Allen, unbeaten on 28, faced all but two balls of that over but could not find the boundaries required, while Jahmar Hamilton’s 10 off 20 balls at the other end proved costly for the chasing side.
Put in to bat after winning the toss, St Lucia Kings posted 187 for 8, built around a 51-ball 82 from Andries Gous, who was later named Player of the Match. Gous reached his half-century inside the powerplay period of his innings before falling to a sharp catch by Evin Lewis at extra cover off Shamar Springer. Alzarri Joseph was the pick of the Falcons’ bowlers, finishing with figures of 3 for 32, while Springer took 2 for 39.
Falcons were briefly in control through Evin Lewis, who made 48, and Che Robinson, who contributed 30, before spinner Maheesh Theekshana and Roston Chase applied the brakes in the middle overs, each finishing with 2 for 18. Chase struck twice in the space of a few balls to leave Antigua and Barbuda Falcons at 145 for 5 after 16 overs, with 43 still needed from the last four. Tight overs from the Kings bowlers in the 17th and 18th, costing only four and nine runs respectively, put the chase firmly out of reach before Allen’s late hitting off Shadley van Schalkwyk in the 19th over briefly revived Falcons’ hopes.
