Barbados Tridents Snap Four-Match Losing Run With Eight-Wicket Win Over Saint Lucia Kings

Barbados Tridents ended a four-game losing streak with an eight-wicket win over the Saint Lucia Kings at Kensington Oval, their third victory of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League season and second win over the Kings this campaign.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the pick of the Tridents’ bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/22 from his four overs, while Daniel Sams also impressed with 2/20 from the same allocation. The pair anchored a tight collective bowling effort that restricted the Kings, who were coming off a 98 all-out defeat to the Patriots on Thursday, to 138/6.
Kamil Pooran had given the Kings a strong platform, taking them to 51/1 after the powerplay before Mujeeb removed him just six balls into the next over. That breakthrough triggered a sustained squeeze from the Tridents attack, with Mujeeb and Jakeem Pollard slowing the scoring rate and only one Tridents bowler finishing with an economy in double figures. Roston Chase attempted to rebuild after Pooran’s dismissal, but the Kings could not accelerate, managing just 29 runs for the loss of three wickets in the final five overs.
In the chase, openers Brandon King and Zachary Carter put on 41 for the first wicket before Chase removed King. Carter added a further cameo of 32 before also departing, bringing together Rivaldo Clarke and Quinton de Kock. The pair built their innings cautiously against tight bowling from Joshua Bishop and Charith Asaralanka, surviving a couple of missed chances before cutting loose. De Kock and Clarke shared an unbeaten 76-run partnership to see the Tridents home with 13 balls to spare.
The Tridents remain on their homestand and next face the Patriots on Thursday. The Kings close out their group-stage campaign against the Warriors on Wednesday.
