Guyana Amazon Warriors Beat Falcons by Seven Wickets

Guyana Amazon Warriors maintained their unbeaten start to CPL 2026 with a seven-wicket victory over Antigua & Barbuda Falcons at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on August 23, chasing down 117 in just 9.5 overs. The result gave the Warriors their third consecutive win of the tournament.
The Falcons were bowled out for 116 in 17 overs after choosing to bat first. Amir Jangoo provided the main resistance with 37, but the home side struggled to build partnerships once the middle overs brought increased pressure from the Warriors’ bowling attack.
Shamar Joseph led the attack with 3 for 22, while Imran Tahir and Khary Pierre claimed two wickets apiece. The Warriors kept taking wickets at regular intervals and prevented the Falcons from turning their early platform into a competitive total.
Guyana’s chase briefly looked uncertain when Glenn Phillips and Matthew Nandu departed early. Shai Hope then changed the momentum, scoring 47 not out from 26 balls, while Shimron Hetmyer added a rapid 49 before being dismissed. The pair put together a 99-run partnership from only 42 deliveries, leaving the Warriors close to the finish.
Quentin Sampson completed the chase with a six from the first ball he faced, taking Guyana to 121 for 3 in 9.5 overs. The Warriors therefore won with 61 balls remaining and strengthened their position among the unbeaten sides in CPL 2026.
The Falcons will remain at home for their next match against Barbados Tridents on August 25. Guyana Amazon Warriors are scheduled to return to action against Trinbago Knight Riders on August 31 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
