Guyana Amazon Warriors Knock Defending Champions Trinbago Knight Riders Out of CPL 2026

Guyana Amazon Warriors eliminated defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders from the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League on September 12, beating them by six wickets at Providence Stadium to record their eighth win of the season.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz took four wickets to restrict TKR to 126 for 8 after they were sent in to bat, and Shai Hope steered the chase with an unbeaten 42 as the Warriors reached the target with eight balls remaining.
Miraz struck twice in the Power Play, removing Colin Munro and Nicholas Pooran in consecutive deliveries, before Justin Greaves anchored the Knight Riders innings, scoring at close to a run a ball while wickets fell at the other end. Imran Tahir dismissed opener Alex Hales for 22, and Miraz returned later to continue troubling the middle order, finishing with four wickets to follow up his three-wicket haul on debut against the Kings. Shamar Joseph ended Greaves’ innings by bowling him with a yorker, after which the rest of the TKR order struggled, with Akeal Hosein’s 12 the highest score from what remained as the visitors closed on 126 for 8.
In reply, the Warriors lost Glenn Phillips for 11 to Usman Tariq but were well placed at 35 for 1 after six overs. Hope then built a 49-run partnership with Shimron Hetmyer, who was caught by Sunil Narine off a diving catch from Greaves. With the required rate under a run a ball and wickets in hand, the Warriors stayed in control despite Miraz’s dismissal at short cover. Quentin Sampson could not add his usual finishing flourish, but Hope closed out the match with a six, sealing the win with eight deliveries unused.
Miraz was named Player of the Match for his all-round contribution with the ball and bat.
The result confirms the Warriors’ position among the leading sides heading into the play-offs and ends Trinbago Knight Riders’ title defence for the season. Guyana Amazon Warriors will play their final group-stage match on Sunday against Barbados Royals in Barbados.
